SUSTAINABILITY STORIES: Portland Public Schools

Since 2016, the Portland Public Schools of Oregon have been leading a Climate Justice, Energy, and Sustainability movement. It all started with passionate students who pushed for more climate and equity focused education, leading their Board of Education to pass a resolution that implemented a climate change/justice curriculum. Today, achievements of the program include a climate justice elective offered at all district high schools; the PPS BOE passing the Climate Crisis Response, Climate Justice and Sustainable Practices Policy (CCRP); a Climate Crisis Response Committee open to students and community members alike; and countless student climate projects. What an inspiring and successful story! 👏👏
