FREE BUS FARES CAMPAIGN!

Happy Holidays SusSpotters, and Merry Christmas Eve to those who celebrate! I would like to take a second this holiday season to share with you the Free Bus Fares campaign I am organizing with New Haven Climate Movement! These banners, which will eventually be displayed at the CT capital, are being given to a number of local schools to collect signatures and notes in support of free bus passes for youth. Burning fossil fuels in transportation is causing significant damage to Connecticut’s public health, and is driving serious climate change damage locally and globally. We need to move to a less car-centric transportation system now! Helping more people take buses is an efficient and effective solution that reduces carbon emissions, lessens traffic congestion, and encourages a shift towards more sustainable communities. Buses help citizens including veterans and students travel to school, work, and activities in an accessible, cost-effective way. Through this statewide campaign, we hope to push the State to fund Free Bus Passes for Students, Health, Equity, Climate Justice, and Cleaner Air.
